ADR-0048: Task-based Settings navigation

  • Status: Accepted
  • Date: 2026-10-15

Context

Currency administration dominated General and pushed common settings below its first viewport, especially at large text sizes. Section chips also hid some destinations horizontally.

Decision

Settings opens a locally searchable index of seven tasks. Each task pushes settings/task/{task} through Routes, leaving currency administration on its own screen. Labels and descriptions are searchable; selecting a result opens that task. Existing encrypted settings keys and storage remain unchanged.

Most controls save immediately. Exchange rates and category keywords keep explicit Save buttons. Toolbar and system Back require a discard decision when those editors are dirty; Keep editing leaves their ViewModel drafts intact. Opening parse rules retains the underlying editor on the back stack.

Consequences

Appearance, banks, security and exports are reachable without traversing currency rows. Destinations hide tab navigation and provide Back. Search runs locally without network or a new persisted setting. Discard exits the destination and releases its draft; process-death draft recovery is not added.
